The Carolina Herrera show was held 41 floors up in the financial district, offering Mount Olympus–level views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Among the guests was Demi Moore, the 61-year-old star. Wes Gordon, speaking before the Herrera show, emphasized the connection between beauty and power. “This season, to me, is really about beauty as strength, and strength as beauty, and kind of shattering the idea that the two are mutually exclusive,” he said. “I think beauty is power, and I wanted every look to feel powerful.”

Power isn’t a topic that’s come up often in Gordon’s backstage conversations, but his line of thinking proved fruitful. This collection exuded verve and confidence without abandoning Herrera’s feminine signatures. There were plenty of flowers, ruffles, and big sleeves of the kind that Mrs. Herrera was famous for wearing (she was attending the event in a violet pantsuit). These elements were interspersed with more streamlined and architectural designs, like the turtleneck and cigarette pants with an asymmetrical skirt spiraling down one leg, or a zip-front basque-hip tank and palazzo pants in dark denim instead of silk faille or some other uber-fine fabric.

For evening wear, Gordon showcased a pair of hoop-skirt dresses, one ankle-length and one floor-length, constructed without the layers of tulle petticoats that would’ve accompanied them in the past, making them more modern and easy to wear.

Mediakite filmed and live-streamed the show using eight Sony FX9 cameras, including one crane, one steadicam, one remote head, and one drone for the opening shot.
