When wildfires ravaged the California countryside, Mediakite dispatched a crew so that its client could report on the devastation firsthand. Mediakite’s rapid response and on-site post-production allowed our client to keep pace with the competitive coverage of the disaster area and deliver breaking news to its viewers

COLOMBIA: the Betancourt case
When our client needed to travel to the deep jungles of Colombia, Mediakite was on hand to provide a crew and bilingual production services. Following our client's request, Mediakite arranged for client's International Correspondent, to meet and interview Juan Carlos Lecompte, husband of kidnapped Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt, and follow him into the jungle on the tracks of his wife and the FARC guerillas who took her hostage.

The Election Game: a 7-part series
As with most election years, media coverage must be well organized in order to keep up on the frantic campaign trail. Mediakite provided our client with full production assistance for The Election Game, a full-feature documentary dedicated to the US electoral process (broadcast in 7 episodes), by organizing interviews and coordinating all production logistics.

Mediakite has assisted a client's campaign trail reporting by establishing contacts within the entourage of Republican Presidential nominee John McCain and providing a crew to follow Sen. McCain's campaign on his airplane and bus around the country, garnering exclusive contact with the Senator and reporting on breaking campaign news.

New York Marathon/US Tennis Open/USGA Golf Open 2006
Every year we cover New York City's major sport events, the NYC Marathon, the US Tennis Open and all major games in professional sport. In 2006 the USGA Golf Open was hosted by Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. and Mediakite had a crew on site for every day of the tournament.

Travel
For a show dedicated to travel we produced a series of segments on U.S. cities. In each episodes the show host meets celebrities who have a special tie to the city. Each city is unveiled trough the eyes and experiences of the chosen celebrity.
Among the featured cities are New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans.

Ultimate Fighting
Mediakite produced a 30’ documentary about this new contact sport: from the gym in Long Island, NY, where Ultimate Fighting is illegal, to the Light Heavy Weight World Championship in Las Vegas, where UFC is surpassing boxing and wrestling for media and public attention.
Ultimate Fighting is defined as a mixed martial arts competition between high level professional fighters who utilize the disciplines of jiu-jitsu, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling.

"In un Altro Paese" (In Another Country)
A Mediakite crew shot the U.S. locations for "In un Altro Paese" (In Another Country) an award winning feature length documentary directed by Marco Turco, with Alexander Stille and Letizia Battaglia. Produced by Vania Del Borgo for: DocLab, RAI Italian Television, France2 in association with BBC Storyville and SBS TV Australia. Based on the book "Cadaveri Eccellenti" (Excellent Deaths), written by Alexander Stille, "In un Altro Paese" is the story of the battle against mafia conducted by justices Falcone and Borsellino.

Hurricane Rita
When hurricane Rita struck, a Mediakite crew was along the Texas and Louisiana coast, shooting and editing in several locations and sending packages via satellite for our clients.

62nd Venice Film Festival
A Mediakite team provided coverage of the 62nd Mostra Internazionale di Arte Cinematografica. We shot and edited on location, providing daily packages for our client, a well-known European movie television channel and also the official television of the Festival.

Yucca Mountain
Mediakite visited and filmed this highly- secretive and protected site, 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Yucca Mountain is located in a remote desert on federally-protected land within the secure boundaries of the Nevada Test Site in Nye County. This is where US nuclear wastes are stored for secure disposal.
The Mediakite crew was granted access to Yucca Mountain thanks to the Los Angeles Foreign Press Center, the Department of Energy, Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management, and the Yucca Mountain Project.

Alaska
For this one-hour special, Mediakite was involved in every stage of production, from concept to delivery. The project was sponsored by The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, which provided transportation and accommodation for the crew and all logistic support on location.
The documentary focuses on environmental, social and political aspects of Alaska, the largest, least-populated and least-seen-on-TV state of the Union.

The New Deserters
A special on US soldiers who deserted the Iraqi war and are now looking for refugee status in Canada.
Mediakite set up interviews and b-roll opportunities in Canada with the soldiers, their lawyers, an official representative of the Canadian IRB (Immigration and Refugee Board), and American soldiers who deserted during the Vietnam War.
The story was conceived by Mediakite and arranged according to the specific requests of the client.

Elections
Mediakite produced a one-hour special on the 2004 US Presidential Elections. Spanning the two party conventions, covering the central issues of the elections from a US and foreign perspective, the documentary tries to reveal the strategies adopted by the two parties, and to follow and understand trends in popular vote.

Kerry
Mediakite produced and filmed a one-hour special on the democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry. We traveled with his campaign team and interviewed his closest aides, his supporters and adversaries.

Inside the Super Bowl 2005
A Mediakite crew covered the 2005 Super Bowl in Jacksonville (FL). The game and behind-the-scenes of one of the biggest sports events in America. Edited on location, the packages were sent to the client via satellite.

Catholicism in the US
Mediakite produced a documentary on the Catholic Church in the United States. Traveling from Boston through the southwest along the Mexican Border, the doc analyzes the issues the Catholic Church is facing in the transition from John Paul II to Benedict XVI. Along the trip we edited daily packages for the clients evening news editions.

A fifty-minute special on the Evangelical Churches around the United States. Produced by Mediakite, focusing on the increasing influence of the Christian right movements on the U.S. political scenario, especially following their role in President Bush's re-election.

Guantanamo
The local correspondent for a European network wanted to do a feature story on Guantanamo Detention Camp but did not have time to organize the project. Mediakite provided the solution.
We made all contacts for access to the Naval base, obtained credentials, set up interviews, arranged for travel and transportation, produced the piece on location and arranged satellite transmission from Cuba to Italy.

Fort Polk
Mediakite arranged a visit to the Fort Polk Army Base, Louisiana and filmed training sessions in Urban Warfare.
Inside the base the military set up a replica of a village in the Middle East, populated by civilians and by enemy combatants, each wearing electronic vests that are capable of recognizing and identifying firearm shots. The US troop in training assaulted the village, carrying out a door-to-door battle.
Mediakite edited the packages on location and sent then via satellite to the European network.

Winner of the Tenth annual Ilaria Alpi Television Award for best feature length documentary in 2004.

The Ilaria Alpi Award, established in 1995, is one of Italy's most prestigious Television awards. The prize is dedicated to Ilaria Alpi, the Italian journalist killed in Mogadishu in 1994, together with cameraman Miran Hrovatin. www.ilariaalpi.it

Oil
Mediakite produced a 30 minutes special on the Oil Business in Texas. Thorough a Houston-based oil company we arranged for a helicopter trip to the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. We also set up interviews and found b-roll opportunities on oil fields and plants in the Texan desert.

A weekly hour-long program hosted by Gianni Riotta and broadcast by La 7 (Italian National TV) profiling American personalities. Our client decides which personality to profile for each show.
Mediakite fulfills pre-production (research, credentials, interview bookings, travel arrangements) and production functions and delivers all footage to the post-production crew in Italy
